I returned to making the trees again last year armed with observational drawings, a better knowledge of evolutionary theory, fractal mathematics and chaos and colour theory. With notions of conspicuous consumption in mind my aim was to incorporating the mathematics and forms of these ideas into design of the new trees.
It is my intension to develop a new body of trees, that adhere to the ideas mentioned above. Within this development, i also intend to attempt to use a variety of different colours, testing different scales of proportion, consider how seasons effect the form of trees and experiment with miniature landscapes.

Small Oak. This match tree was the first to use a small about of lead int he base. This made building free standing trees a lot easier, meaning that i could concentrate on the balance of the form, rather than making a form that on balanced

Tree (dont know the type) in Banbridge, Northern Ireland. The building of this match tree was undertaken in order to make an interactive animation. This was the first attempt to use mathematics found in nature in directly into the design.
